One of my favourite things to do, is to sit and watch footage of all the different runways at all the Fashion Weeks and I wait for the editors at ELLE and VOGUE to tell us what styles we will be wearing in the upcoming months.
The one trend that really stood out to me was the Western trend. Think wide brimmed hats, buckles, fringe and saddle handbags. If you want to rock an outfit like this whilst riding a horse, then by all means. Rock. It. I would do the same, but E is allergic to horses and doesn’t understand the concept of accessorising.
I think the reason why I am enjoying this trend, is because it is reminds me of Autumn. Leather boots, denim jackets and dark toned prints - right up my street. I do love bold and bright colours for Summer, but Autumn will always be my favourite season. My ripped denim jacket is one of my favourite pieces and I consider it an essential item to have in your wardrobe as it goes with so much. So I want to use denim more and perhaps build up my collection of denim jackets. With the idea of adding more Western items in to my current wardrobe, I started hunting for some hot pieces online and I have managed to find several pieces that tickle my fancy. Here is what I have found:
No surprises that Topshop and ASOS have really taken on this trend and I am loving it. But I was slightly disappointed at some of my favourite plus size brands that aren’t carrying a lot of the Western themed trend - apart from buckled belts and denim jackets. But hey, thats when you have to use your noggin and really style your outfit. Think about what you already have in your wardrobe and add to it.
I love wearing little leather boots with floral dresses and throwing on my denim jacket. It is just a simple effortless outfit. So I am so glad that this is a key trend this season. I might even try rocking a wee bandana as a neckerchief and perhaps if I can find a hat that will actually fit my gigantic head, I might rock that too. You never know.
