When you are in need of something rescuing your skin, then look no further than these masks from The Body Shop. There is something for everyone. Even if you have a combination skin type, and you think that there is nothing out there for you, then do not worry my friend. I am in the same boat.
Like most, I bloody love a good face mask when my skin needs a bit of hydration. Or when I want to relax. Or when I have had a wee break out. But what happens when my combination skin is just being itself? I have an oily nose and chin, dry forehead and generally my skin is dehydrated and can be sensitive. Now, I know I really should be drinking more water to help with the hydration, but I just don’t.
I used to just buy any face mask that sounded (or smelled) nice and worked with that. Often, I found that they would soften the skin but that was about it. At a Body Shop event I had a wee look at the jars of face masks and I thought that it might be worth it to multi-mask to see if that would help with my skin. I went home with 5 jars of different masks to play with.
CHINESE GINSENG & RICE CLARIFYING POLISHING MASK - With the appearance of a light cottage cheese, this is the perfect mask to remove dullness in the skin. Ginseng is known for toning and revitalising. Just don’t use a cracker to apply it.
AMAZONIAN ACAI ENERGISING RADIANCE MASK - This helps fights appearance of fatigue, invigorates and boosts radiance. Rich in Vitamin C to fight off signs of exhaustion and instantly softens the skin. This smells heavenly and looks like a delicious jam. It is not. So don’t try it.
ETHIOPIAN HONEY DEEP NOURISHING MASK - This one is one of my favourites as it helps retain your skins natural moisture and improves your skins elasticity. This honey is perfect for dry patches too, it is really thick - almost like treacle - and can be a sticky mess, so don’t move after you have put it on. Just relax and unwind knowing that you look like Winnie the Pooh after his dinner.
BRITISH ROSE FRESH PLUMPING MASK - A beautiful gel mask that contains real rose petals that plumps your skin, giving it that youthful feel that we all seem to seek now we are cracking on a bit. Apparently it was inspired by the European bathing rituals, but I can’t remember the last time I had a bath full of flowers. The formula for this mask instantly soothes thanks to the Aloe Vera and it also tones because of the rosehip oil. Perhaps I should bathe in rosehip oil instead of flowers as I really should look in to toning up my body.
HIMALAYAN CHARCOAL PURIFYING GLOW MASK - Now. This bad boy is my ultimate favourite. I have gone through a few jars of this already. This mask claims to purify the skin and give it a new lease of life and I would have to agree. It is amazing. Yes, it looks like you have been in a mud wrestling competition and lost, but I love it. It is a super thick mud mask that looks like it is full of twigs and leafs, but I have been reassured that those bits are actually Green Tea leafs. So thats okay. It is worth it.
When it comes to applying these masks, I like to use a brush. Something similar in shape to a foundation brush. It just means that you are not making an absolute mess and you can control the areas where you are going to place the product if you are going to multi-mask.
I love to put the Charcoal Mask on my T-Zone and chin, as I find it helps control the oil. The Honey is places delicately on any dry patches to help give them some much needed moisture. The Rice mask is great under my eyes to help reduce the appearance of dullness. Let’s be honest, if you know me you know that the word “dull” will never be used to describe me. So let’s get rid of that. The Rose mask is great if my skin is feeling a little sensitive or when I want to be like Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus and steal back my youth. The Acai mask is great around the top of my forehead near my hairline to help soften the skin that tends to dry out in the Winter months. Or enjoy it on some toast whilst your waiting for the four other masks to work their magic.
What is your go-to face mask? Do you like to multi-mask too?
