When it comes to my own personal style, I like to thin that I know how to dress for my size and shape. Comfort is always a huge part of my wardrobe, if I feel uncomfortable in an outfit I get really stressed and start to feel paranoid that people are staring at me – and not in a good way.
Autumn is my favourite season – said 99% of the Blogging community – and when the season changes, I love to shop for a new autumn wardrobe to keep me cosy, chic and comfortable. This time round, I really struggled to think of what I wanted to add to my ever-expanding wardrobe that would compliment my ever-expanding waistline.
Being a plus size woman, I find that there is a struggle to find those perfect pieces, but I always manage to find something on ASOS in their Curve range. I had only a handful of items in my saved items and I just felt a bit deflated whilst scrolling through the dozens of pages. I felt no inspiration on there, but I knew that I could find inspiration elsewhere.
On Instagram, I follow hundreds of women who are killing it when it comes to their own personal style. When they upload a new photo for their “grid”, I double-tap and leave sassy comments with a cute emoji. That is where I found my inspiration, not in the sense to rip off someones outfit or style, but the inspiration to reach out. So I sent one of my ultimate favourites a wee DM, asking for help.
Chloe (@chloejade_story) and I have known each other since University, and I know that styling is one of her favourite things to do in life. If you want to see what I am talking about, then check out her Instagram. She is KILLING IT every single day. Chloe was up for the challenge, and she happily helped my fill my ASOS basket with 75 items… yep… SEVENTY. FIVE.
Majority of the pieces were items that I would normally just scroll past, but all together these pieces looked incredible because Chloe has essentially created a capsule wardrobe for autumn. Just for me. The colour scheme was very Chloe, but I love that. Camel, grey, black and the occasional pop of yellow. Thinking about it, I don’t think I actually own any camel pieces and I think I only have one grey item that has the word “FLAWLESS” typed across the chest. I do own a lot of black pieces, but that is because that is my uniform for my job.
Fresh eyes really helped me to get excited about my autumn wardrobe overhaul. I frantically scrolled through the newly curated basket and chose pieces that I needed in my life NOW. I checked out quickly and even clicked that cheeky wee option for Next Day Delivery.
Much to my surprise, it did arrive the next day. Living in the North East of Scotland sometimes means that next day deliveries are like a Unicorn – either rare or utter bullshit. I quickly set up my camera and filmed my first ever Fashion Haul & Try On video for my YouTube channel. I loved every piece that Chloe selected for me and I feel like I have my fashion mojo back.
If you want to see these looks, then you need to come and visit my Instagram page. Whilst you’re there, visit Chloe too and don’t forget to share the love. Perhaps something will inspire you too.
