When the invite appeared in my inbox asking if I wanted to come and try the pizza at the new pizza joint in town. I instantly knew it would be a yes from me.
Pizza is my favourite food on the planet. I consider it a major food group in my diet along side Carbohydrates, Dairy, Protein, Fats, Sugars and I am sure there is another one… oh yeah, fruit and vegetables.
When I went to Italy a few years ago I had pizza every single day I was there and I am PROUD of that. It was amazing. So fresh, so tasty, so good. When I came back from Italy I turned in to a right pizza snob. Only eating pizza from certain places because it just “wasn’t the same”. Now that Mozza has opened in Aberdeen Union Square, I have a new place to hide in from the rain and chow down on delicious pizza.
The menu from Mozza is just perfect. They don’t do pasta JUST pizza. 13 options of delicious toppings and the prices are so reasonable it is questionable. Even Monday to Friday, all their pizzas are £5 before 5pm. So I will be having pizza for lunch every day of my life. The pizzas aren’t named, just numbered, so they are keeping everything simple.
Your choices of pizzas are as follows:

12 – Tomato sauce, mozzarealla, red onion, spicy ventricina salami, olives £8
LUCKY 13 MOZZA DARE – Trust in chef’s creativity and try this delicious mystery surprise. Don’t ask your server as even they don’t know.
Such a great selection – I went rogue and asked for Luck 13. It was incredible.
It had a tomato base, juicy mushrooms, fresh mozzarella that had the most amazing taste and some greenery on top. On one side of the pizza though, it looked like the chef had accidentally flipped the sides of the pizza over. But as I devoured the whole thing, I realised that it was a different pizza topping stuffed inside. It was filled with MORE mozzarella and the spicy ventricina salami. Jesus it was incredible. I was stuffed.
Then the waitress asked what dessert I wanted. I went for the strawberry cheesecake. Even though I did not know where I would find the room for it. But I managed about half of it. It was beautiful.
The strawberry sauce on top was just a barrier between your spoon and the amazing creamy, fluffy cheesecake filing. It was just unbelievable. I wanted more, but I just couldn’t handle it. I would really recommend this dessert to share when you hit up Mozza yourself. The others that say at the table tried out the BirramisÙ - a spin on the classic coffee dessert Tiramisu. I am not a fan of coffee, so I knew it wouldn’t be for me. But when you go. Let me know your thoughts.
After all the delicious grub, I got invited to the back of the restaurant to see the chefs at work. The pizzas are cooked in just 90seconds in a pizza oven that hits 400 degrees. That is one hot oven. The space where they prep the pizzas is really small, but that is a good thing as the chefs work side-by-side creating all the amazing dishes that are just beautiful.
I am just so excited that there is a place like this in Aberdeen that make REAL pizza. I am actually heading there today for lunch because I just can’t get enough.
