So. This month has just flown past. I don't like how fast time is going at the moment.
At the beginning of the month. I set myself 4 goals for the month of April. Here is the update on those goals:
No. 1 - Kitchen. We are quite lucky to have quite a large kitchen in our flat, but it always feels quite dark. The window is quite large but it is off centre and the the kitchen cabinets are dark wood with black stone tops. So you often need to have the kitchen light on during the day. This month I want to look in to changing my kitchen. E’s parents have had their kitchen painted a beautiful grey tone and I want to do the same - but white. Of course.
We have looked in to the style that we want to achieve in our kitchen - thank God for Pinterest - and we have looked in to the best paint to use for our cupboards. I wrote a wee blog post on some inspiration that we are using [click here]. Can’t wait to get started on it.
No. 2 - Spring Clean. It feels like my house goes from magazine ready to a bomb site in 10seconds. I am very much the maximalist when it comes to decor. I love ornaments, art work and little knick knacks. So my house can feel cluttered very quickly. I blame TKMaxx. They always have the best stuff for my home. I want to gut out each room from all the crap that I do not need. I do not need to keep a hold of that empty box that had a nice pair of earrings in it. It is empty. Chuck it.
Spring cleaning felt so good. I got rid of like 5 black bags of crap that I don’t need. I donated a lot of stuff to charity and gave E’s mum a few things too. Including a fancy handbag that I have never used! She was so happy with it. So I am glad that it has a new home because it just lived up on top of my wardrobe for a couple of years.
No. 3 - Blog Layout. I love the way I have designed my blog layout. It is clean and fresh. But I want to play around with it a little this month. Create something that is more exciting. I want to engage with my readers more and I don’t feel that this is an easy thing just now. But that could just be me.
I updated my Blog homepage and made it feel more interesting. Not that it was boring to begin with, but I just felt the need to update it. I added a “Favourite Blog Posts” section and I feel like it just looks so much better. When you originally scrolled through my homepage it just felt like it stopped too suddenly. If that makes sense.
No. 4 - Workspace. I have a wee room in my house that I use for a workspace. It is filled to the brim with sketchbooks, fabrics and art books. I need to organise my space more. Vacuum bag the fabrics and sort out the books I have. I feel almost clostraphobic when I work in there. So much so, that I try and work in the living room or the man room, which can stress me out. I always end up feeling bad that I have trashed the living room or that I am invading E’s space too much. So I need to get this room sorted. Plan the space better and maybe visit IKEA for workspace inspiration. I have an amazing Workspace Pinterest board. I wish you could just click your fingers and your room is perfection. But a girl can dream.
So. I completely GUTTED my sewing room/workspace and I have been using it a lot. I threw out 3 black bags of just stuff. I kept a lot of things that I thought would come in handy another time, but then I didn’t do anything with them. The space just looks so much cleaner and I can actually move around in it. I vacuum packed all my fabric to make it easier to store and then I organised all my sewing equipment so it was easier to find things. I am so obsessed with labelling things. I am just so happy to have my space back in a working condition.
What goals did you achieve in April?
