The day I was taught a lesson...
On Valentine's Day, I paid a friend a visit to learn the art of contouring. This friend I speak of is a Smashbox Cosmetics Beauty Consultant and she works wonders with a make up kit. Her own make up makes me jealous but at the same time I am fascinated by her beauty.
I walked into the Smashbox with nothing on my face - not even concealer to hide my red skin. I sat down on the stool and demanded Chloe (that's my friend) to "teach me your ways!" As she applied primer to my face I scrolled through the beauty inspiration folder on my phone and came across one of the most stunning photos of the beautiful Tess Munster/Holliday that I had saved. Chloe was thrilled with the idea of thickening up my eyebrows and giving me a retro effect face, so I agreed and we began.
Not only was it relaxing to sit there and let someone else do my make up, but it was one of the finest days that I have had in a long time. The banter was on form and we just laughed all the way through it - she even told me off when the liquid eyeliner smudged. There were moments of panic as I sat there looking as white as a ghost because the foundation looked far too pale - but all was to become clear as Chloe explained the art of countering to me. Blending the bronzer in enhancing my features. I blushed when Chloe complimented me on my "amazing" cheekbones and I felt like a boss when she blabbed on about my natural brow shape being awesome. She was either telling the truth or just trying to sell me the products... But because she is my friend, I like to believe that she was telling me the truth. I did buy the beautiful highlighter from Smashbox and Chloe steered me in the right direction for a bronzer that is perfect for my skin tone (pictured above).
At the end, I was amazed at the difference that contouring made to my regular make up. My face didn't look flat and my features were really enhanced. When I got home I took about 50 selfies to get the right angle to show the world my new look - obviously it took me longer to choose the right filter. I ended up choosing a filter that just lightened my face to really show off the contouring.
