When it comes to beauty, one rule I love to live by is: Skin First, Make Up Second. If you are having a bad skin day - i.e. dullness, dry, blemishes or dehydration – then why try and cover it up with make up when you should be listening to what your skin is trying to tell you.
I have quite dehydrated skin with oil in my T-Zone area. When I do get blemishes, they tend to be on my chin and jawline – thanks to my period – so I try to use products that will help hydrate my skin and control the oil. I love a good facemask that detoxes the skin but I always make sure that I hydrate the skin after, using a really nourishing moisturiser, spray or another mask designed for hydration.
In January MAC Cosmetics launched their Reset & Revive Charcoal Mask along with their Mineralize Charged Water Charcoal Spray as a detox range. Kind of like a “New Year, New You” campaign. I had already fallen deeply in love with their Volcanic Ash Exfoliator before that, so the new products instantly fascinated me.
The Volcanic Ash Exfoliator lives in my bathroom. I use it in the shower to gently remove all the dirt and grime from my face and I tend to leave it on for as long as I can as it helps to detox the skin by itself as well as adding moisture. If you want something that is going to penetrate a little deeper in to your pores, then the Mineralize Reset & Revive Charcoal Mask is for you. It purifies pores and eliminates impurities, but I also believe it helps control oil because if I use this at night time before bed, I find my nose and chin aren’t as shiny the next day.
As the mask dries, you can see it almost pulling the oil from your pores. Looks so fascinating.
Then, I soak my face with the Mineralize Charged Water Charcoal Spray on top of the dry mask and use a damp warm cloth to gently remove it. The face spray re-energizes and helps replenish any lost moisture in your skin. Even spraying your face with the spray in the morning before applying your make up helps your tired skin look fresh. I love it. I even spray my face with it throughout the day to give it that little oomph it needs.
